The entire acre plot is surrounded by a bougainvillea-covered wall. The garden is carefully looked-after and you will find a dazzling display of beautiful, fragrant exotic flowers, bananas, papayas and passion fruits, which visitors are free to sample straight from the trees. At the center of the compound is a 11 x 7 swimming pool. Unlike chemical pools, aur pool is kept clean with a salt-water system so visitors dont suffer from the red eyes and burning typical in pools treated uniquely with chlorine. we warmly welcome families with children , for your peace of mind you will staying in a villa with a fenced swimming pool, gated, pool , the only one in Diani Beach Papaya Garden has its own water source and water supply that provides drinking quality water 24 hours a day. Both hot and cold water are always available for guests. This is a luxury since there are many places around Mombasa that suffer from water supply issues during the dry season since most water sources need be replenished by rain. Thankfully, visitors to Papaya Garden will never have to worry about water shortage. There are two, fully furnished villas for visitors to stay in at Papaya Garden. The villa's are named after my little daughter's favorite cartoons Dora and Holly. Both of t·he villas are built with coral stone in the local Swahili style and features a makuti (palm thatched) roof. Each villa can sleep up to 6 people comfortably, and are available on a nightly or weekly basis (see rates for the dates of minimum nights required per villa). Both of the villas have an upper and lower floor. On the lower floor are two rooms with king sized beds, with one of the bedrooms featuring its own bathroom. The upper floor also features a bedroom with a king sized bed and baby cout. All of the beds have mosquito nets and all rooms, including veranda , are equipped with silent ceiling fans. All of the bathrooms have a walk - in shower, that makes them full wheelchair accessible. Each villa also features a spacious living room for those that want to relax indoors ,where there is also a sofa bed· [ single bed size ]. Each villa offers a covered outdoor, terraced dining area overlooking the swimming pool. The traditional architecture of the villa's make use of the always-present sea breeze and provides the area with a cool and very pleasant temperature alla day long. The fully equipped kitchen that is located in each villa features a gas cooker, an oven, a refrigerator with a freezer, a coffee maker, a toaster and a microwave. Sufficient kitchen utensils are available. A chef can also be contracted at reasonable rate £ 7 per day, for those who wish to have this service. Our cook will be happy to cook sumptuous typical meals and can also take care of your daily shopping. Its also possible to arrange to have fresh fish and seafood brought straight to your door by local fishermen. Depending on the season you can buy lobsters, prawns, crabs, red snapper and many other assorted fish direct from the fishermen. Also available are an assortment of African game meat such as Impala, Ostrich and crocodile that can be bought in the nearby town of Mombasa. A personal chef can also find and prepare for your meals of African game upon request. Our self catering· villa rental include daily made service of your villa including linen and towel service. The housekeeper can also be hired to go into town and shop for guests for an extra daily charge. However, there are some local shops around the area and several big super markets with standard ·European items just a 10 minutes drive from Papaya Garden for those guests who wish to do their own shopping. When guests first arrive, every step is taken to ensure a relaxing and enjoyable first day. We can arrange for your first day shopping so that you can relax while we keep your fridge stocked up with cool refreshing drinks. Simply supply us of what you need and will supply the rest. We can also organize· excursions to Shimba Hills ,Shimoni caves , Wasini island mangroves , and the Kisite - Mpunguti National Park. While the Papaya Garden staff officially works from 8 to 5 pm assistance can be arranged for those that require something extra. This is because our staff, a housekeeper, pool attendant and gardener, remain on-site in seperate lodgings 24 hours a day. This way they are available to assist you with anything you need during your stay. Wireless 3G internet connection is available for guests added convenience. While the area around Diani beach is safe and secure the Papaya Garden employes the service of a Samburu Masai warrior as a security guard on a 24 hour basis.
